So, yeah. just got my first decent camera a few days ago and i've been having a blast <33

Canon EOS 550D with an EF-S 17-85mm IS USM

Not bad for a beginner. I would say that your problem is that some of your pics have decent focuses, but try and work on playing with the lighting you have to work with.

Excellent focus however lacking in subjects. More or less, I specially liked the coconut macro photography. Hope that my review was not too harsh.

Play around with your current ones first, the 17-85 IS is a pretty good lens, I've been intending to grab one for a while, havn't had the chance though. Only thing I would say is maybe a 50mm f/1.8. Have a play around with them to find what kind of lens you would like before spending $500+ on a lens that won't do much more than sit on the shelf.
