Spam Bots?

I agree! Most online registrations these days require E-mail approval anyway. I was coming online tonight to check on the spam and I can't see any. Hopefully that means the new measures are working. :)

Spam Bots?

Usually most of these spambots will bypass the registration form completely and find ways to directly SQL-inject data into the tables. Setting up registration approval might stem the tide but it won't wipe it out completely, as the continued flow of spambots this morning would show.

I still recommend someone patching the forum up to Vanilla 2.0.18.8 (we're on 2.0.18.4) now, which comes with the following security fixes.

That's all (and although I'm a bot I'm not a spambot! :P),
~ Spi :)

Found another spambot while I was looking into the forum from work. I thought "What the heck I'll give my work machine another try." This time the menu loaded properly and I was able to get rid of the bot. Can't give assurances that this will always be the case though.
