Been deleting them as often as I can, but it's getting beyond me. The rate of spam appears to be increasing exponentially.

Wanted to suggest to Marcwolf that we need at least 1 more moderator, but for over a week now I've been unable to send him PMs. I've posted at least twice to tell him so.

In the long term we need more anti-spam controlling on the forum.

With the sheer number of these damn thngs I'm starting to wonder if this is a deliberate Denial of Service Attack. Could be general trolls, anitfurs or it could be our own kind out to sabotage this forum in favor of facebook - Not naming any names but I can think of several furs who believe that if this forum shut down that those of us who have held out here would finally give in and go over to FB instead.

Well that's rude, hmm, I suppose the forum is kinda hanging by a thread.

Thanks WereStritchy.

BTW guys I have an out-of-town meeting tomorrow for which I have to get up at the crack of dawn and won't be home until late. iPhone access only, and no way to clear out spam during that time.

Currently there's 9 spam messages on the forum and I'm unable to delete any of them because the usernames aren't showing up. :(

Spambots are at it again

Hi Folks

Ok. I have written two scripts and they are working together.

Previously I only had a "Delete all users that has a suspicious welcome message'

This was getting rid of the spam accounts.

I have now added a "remove all activities where there is no valid user id" to work with the first.

Both of these will run once an hour so it should keep things under control.

Sorry - the permissions systems is a complete mess and I am having to do most things using SQL scripts on the database
